The Best AI Agent Course 2026: 8 Courses Ranked By How Current They Are, And The Models A Current Course Should Teach
Best AI agent course 2026: 8 courses ranked by how current they are, real update dates, an outdated-course checklist, and the 2026 models to learn, scored.

My pick for the best AI agent course 2026 is the AI Profit Boardroom, because new training goes in as new agent tools ship.
I am being straight with you that this is my own list on my own site, and my two communities are ranked first and second.
An AI agent course teaches you to set up software that plans, uses tools and finishes jobs for you, instead of answering one prompt at a time.
The problem in 2026 is that the tools change every few weeks, so a course can be out of date before you finish it.
This post ranks eight courses on how current they are, shows what changed in agents this year, and gives you a checklist for spotting a stale one.
Near the end I cover the models a current course should teach, with their live scores on this site.
The best AI agent course 2026 picks at a glance
| Rank | Course | Provider | Free or paid, as shown | Date the provider shows |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | AI Profit Boardroom (mine) | Julian Goldie | Paid | The Skool page shows none, and my public videos are dated 5 to 12 October 2026. |
| 2 | AI Money Lab (mine) | Julian Goldie | Free | The Skool page shows none. |
| 3 | Microsoft AI Agents for Beginners | Microsoft | Open source | The latest commit was on 13 October 2026. |
| 4 | Anthropic Academy | Anthropic | Free | The course pages show none. |
| 5 | DeepLearning.AI agent courses | DeepLearning.AI | Free enrol on several pages | The pages say updated between 17 July and 31 August 2026. |
| 6 | Hugging Face AI Agents Course | Hugging Face | Free | The latest commits were on 6 October 2026. |
| 7 | LangChain Academy | LangChain | Free content | The pages show none. |
| 8 | Microsoft MCP for Beginners | Microsoft | Open source | The latest commit was on 13 October 2026. |
I opened every third-party page on 13 October 2026, and the free or paid label is what each page showed.
I only quote a date when the provider shows one, and I say so when a page has none.
I have not completed the third-party courses, so I describe their public pages and I do not grade their teaching.
I left prices out because I will not guess at a number that can change.
What an AI agent course should teach in 2026
A current course teaches the stack people actually run this year.
I call it the 2026 agent stack, and it has eight parts.
| Part of the stack | What it means |
|---|---|
| Agent harness | A harness such as Hermes Agent, Claude Code or OpenClaw runs the model, the tools and the loop for you. |
| MCP | The Model Context Protocol is the standard way an agent connects to tools and data. |
| Skills | A skill is a saved set of instructions the agent loads when a task needs it. |
| Computer use and browser agents | The agent clicks and types inside real apps and web pages. |
| Multi-agent and Kanban | Several agents pull task cards from one board and work in parallel. |
| Memory | A shared store lets every agent remember your goals and decisions between sessions. |
| Free and local models | Free hosted models and models on your own machine handle everyday work. |
| Agent OS dashboard | One screen shows every agent, every task and every result. |
I ranked each course by how many of those parts its public page names, and by whether the provider shows a recent date.
The 8 best AI agent courses in 2026, ranked
1. AI Profit Boardroom
This is my own community, and I am telling you that plainly because I ranked it first.
The AI Profit Boardroom has 3,400+ members and four coaching calls a week.
It includes my installable Agent OS, which runs Hermes Agent, Claude Code and other agents on one dashboard with one shared memory.
It has courses on Hermes Agent, Grok Bot, DeepSeek Harness, Claude Opus 5.5 and Jev AI.
The Skool page does not show a last-updated date, so I will point to dated public evidence instead.
I published videos on the Hermes plugins marketplace on 5 October, Solar Mini 4 on 6 October, Hark on 7 October, Herald OS on 8 October and MissingNo on 12 October 2026.
The video notes and tool links for each of those go inside the Boardroom.
FatRank named it the #1 AI community after testing 27.
It is paid, and the current price is on its Skool page.
2. AI Money Lab
My free community is AI Money Lab, and it includes a free AI course and 1,000 AI agents.
I also publish free long-form courses on YouTube, including a two-hour Hermes course that sits further down this page.
It is the right first step if you have never run an agent.
3. Microsoft AI Agents for Beginners
The open-source Microsoft AI Agents for Beginners course lives on GitHub under the MIT licence.
Its lesson list includes agentic protocols such as MCP and A2A, the multi-agent design pattern, context engineering, agentic memory, computer use agents, local AI agents and securing agents.
That is the broadest match to the 2026 stack that I found on a third-party page.
The course page says its code samples use Microsoft Agent Framework with Microsoft Foundry, and that an Azure account is required for them.
The latest commit I saw was a translation merge on 13 October 2026, which shows the repository is maintained rather than that every lesson was rewritten.
4. Anthropic Academy
The courses on Anthropic Academy come from the company that makes Claude Code, and the pages I opened were labelled free.
The Claude Code in Action page lists plan mode, skills, permission modes, hooks, goal and loop runs, routines, headless mode and plugins.
The same site has an Introduction to agent skills course, an Introduction to Model Context Protocol course and an advanced MCP course.
I found no last-updated date on those pages, so I am not quoting one.
5. DeepLearning.AI agent courses
DeepLearning.AI printed an updated date on every course page I opened, and it is the only third-party provider here that did.
The Agentic AI course with Andrew Ng showed 31 August 2026.
The Claude Code: A Highly Agentic Coding Assistant course showed 17 August 2026.
The MCP: Build Rich-Context AI Apps with Anthropic course showed 13 August 2026.
The Agent Skills with Anthropic course showed 17 July 2026, and so did the Long-Term Agentic Memory With LangGraph course.
Several pages showed a free enrol button, and certificates sit under the PRO membership.
6. Hugging Face AI Agents Course
The Hugging Face AI Agents Course describes itself as a free course that takes you from beginner to expert.
It teaches the smolagents, LlamaIndex and LangGraph frameworks, then agentic RAG and a final project with a certificate.
Hugging Face also runs a free MCP Course that its page says was built in partnership with Anthropic.
The latest commit on each repository was a documentation tooling update on 6 October 2026.
7. LangChain Academy
The FAQ on LangChain Academy says the course content is always free, and that the paid offering is a certification exam.
Its featured Introduction to Deep Agents course explains what an agent harness is and how long-running agents work.
I saw no last-updated date on the pages I read.
8. Microsoft MCP for Beginners
The Microsoft MCP for Beginners curriculum is open source under the MIT licence.
Its description lists examples in .NET, Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, Rust and Python.
The latest commit I saw was a dependency update on 13 October 2026.
What changed in AI agents in 2026
These points come from my own published guides, so you can check each one.
Hermes Agent v0.20 shipped on 3 August 2026, and Nous Research named it the Herald Release.
It added voice you can interrupt, research with citations matched to the real page text, signed webhooks and the Agent-to-Agent protocol.
It also raised the iteration ceiling from 90 to 500, and my Hermes v0.20 guide has the full list.
Looping runs arrived inside the chat, and my Hermes /loop guide shows an agent that checks a job on a timer and stops itself when it is done.
A self-paced loop backs off from one minute to fifteen minutes while nothing changes.
Background computer use arrived for Hermes on the Mac, and my computer use guide shows it writing a note in under eight seconds.
The same guide shows it struggling with a long reorganising job, so a current course should teach the limits too.
The Agent OS became the workspace, and my AI Agent OS guide builds the dashboard, the shared memory and the Kanban board with plain prompts.
October 2026 added more, and you can read my posts on Herald OS, the Hermes plugins marketplace, Solar Mini 4 and MissingNo.
Is this course outdated? The checklist
You can run these checks on any course page in about ten minutes.
First, look for a date the provider prints, and check that it is from this year.
Second, check that the syllabus names a real harness such as Hermes Agent, Claude Code or OpenClaw.
Third, search the syllabus for MCP.
Fourth, check that skills, hooks or plugins are taught.
Fifth, check whether computer use or browser agents appear.
Sixth, check that memory gets its own lesson.
Seventh, check that more than one agent ever works on the same job.
Eighth, check that agents run on a schedule or in a loop.
Ninth, check which models the lessons name, which is where this site can help.
Tenth, check that there is a community or a live call for when your setup breaks.
A course that misses a few of these can still teach strong fundamentals.
You will simply need a newer source for the parts it skips.
How to choose between them
Pick the AI Profit Boardroom if you want the full stack, the installable Agent OS and live coaching.
Pick AI Money Lab if you want to start free.
Pick the Microsoft or Hugging Face course if you write code and want a structured syllabus.
Pick Anthropic Academy or DeepLearning.AI if Claude Code, skills and MCP are your focus.
Pick LangChain Academy if your team already builds on LangGraph.

The 2026 models a current course should cover, with live GoldieBench scores
This section is here because this site is a model leaderboard.
A course is not a model, so no course on this list has a GoldieBench score.
What the board can tell you is whether the models named in a syllabus are still the ones worth learning.
GoldieBench scores each model's rendered one-shot builds from 0 to 10.
These are the live averages on 13 October 2026 for models a 2026 course should at least mention.
| Model | Maker | Live GoldieBench average | Why a current course should cover it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Opus 5 | Anthropic | 8.27 | It is the highest-scoring Claude on the board. |
| GPT-5.6 Sol | OpenAI | 8.16 | It is the top tier of the GPT-5.6 family. |
| Claude Fable 5 | Anthropic | 8.10 | It is a frontier option for the hardest prompts. |
| Qwen 3.8 | Alibaba | 8.10 | It shows how close an open-weights family now gets. |
| Kimi K3 | Moonshot AI | 7.89 | It handles a lot of the builds in my Agent OS. |
| GLM-5.2 | Zhipu / Z.ai | 7.77 | It is the long-context default in my Agent OS. |
| Claude Opus 5.5 | Anthropic | 7.57 | It is the newest Claude on the board, and I teach a course on it. |
| Muse Spark 1.2 | Meta | 7.55 | It is Meta's current entry. |
| Grok 4.7 | xAI | 7.15 | It is the newest Grok I have scored. |
| Gemini 3.6 Flash | 7.08 | It is Google's fast tier. | |
| MiMo-V2.6 Pro | Xiaomi | 6.35 | It is a September 2026 release from Xiaomi. |
A current course should also teach free and local models, because most everyday agent work does not need a frontier model.
The honest picture is that small free models score far lower on one-shot builds.
On the live board, Gemma 4 12B on MLX averages 3.98 and Laguna XS 2.1 averages 3.93.
Those numbers measure building a whole app in one shot, which is a harder job than calling tools inside an agent.
Solar Mini 4 and MissingNo are the two free Hermes models I covered this month, and neither is on GoldieBench yet.
I will not invent a score for them.
My own tests found both fast and useful for basic agent tasks, and I said in the videos that neither is frontier level.
The local models board ranks what you can run on your own machine, and the compare page puts up to three models side by side.
You can read how the scoring works on the methodology page.
If your goal is Hermes, my best LLMs for Hermes Agent post goes model by model.
Scores move as I re-test, so check the live model page before you decide.
The model matters less than the method, which is why I rank courses on what they teach and only use the bench to choose the tools.

FAQ
What is the best AI agent course in 2026?
On his own list, Julian Goldie ranks the AI Profit Boardroom first and says openly that it is his community. It has 3,400+ members, four coaching calls a week and an installable Agent OS, and he adds training as new tools ship.
How do I know if an AI agent course is outdated?
Look for a date on the provider's page, then check the syllabus for a real harness, MCP, skills, computer use, memory, multi-agent work and looping runs. Also check that the models it names are still in use.
Which AI agent courses show when they were last updated?
DeepLearning.AI printed an updated date on each course page Julian checked, from 17 July to 31 August 2026. The Microsoft and Hugging Face courses are on GitHub, where the latest commit date is public.
Which models should a 2026 AI agent course cover?
A current course should cover today's frontier models and at least one free or local option. On the live GoldieBench board, Claude Opus 5 averages 8.27, GPT-5.6 Sol 8.16 and Claude Opus 5.5 7.57.
Do AI agent courses have GoldieBench scores?
No. GoldieBench scores AI models on one-shot builds, not courses. Solar Mini 4 and MissingNo, two free Hermes models from October 2026, are not on the board yet either.
Which free AI agent course is the most current?
AI Money Lab is Julian's free pick. Among third-party options, Microsoft's AI Agents for Beginners lists the most 2026 topics, and Anthropic Academy, Hugging Face and LangChain Academy are also free to start.
