GEO Examples: Four Real AI Overview Wins, The Three Moves Behind Them, And The Models Writing The Answers
GEO examples explained: 4 real AI Overview wins from my own screens, the 3 moves behind them, and how the models behind AI answers score on GoldieBench.

GEO examples are real searches where an AI answer names a business, and the four I show in my video make the idea easy to see.
GEO stands for generative engine optimisation, which is the work of making your business the name that Google AI, Gemini or ChatGPT gives when someone asks a question.
The problem it solves is simple, because AI answers name only a few businesses and everyone else gets skipped.
If you'd like my team to look at your own chances, you can book a free one-to-one GEO, AEO AI audit and get a custom game plan.
In this post I'll show the four examples, the three moves behind them and how to copy them.
Near the end, I'll show how the models behind today's AI answers score on this leaderboard, and why that's a separate question from GEO.
The four GEO examples at a glance
This table lists every example I show on screen, with what the AI answer did and what it teaches.
| # | Search I checked | What the AI answer showed | What it teaches |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | best geo expert | Google's AI Overview named me first and cited several of my pages. | Being the source gets you named. |
| 2 | best AI SEO community | AI Profit Boardroom ranked first and my free community second, in an article three days old when I checked. | A disclosed listicle can move fast. |
| 3 | best HARO agency | The AI Overview listed five suppliers and linked Goldie Agency first, which also ranks first organically. | It works for a normal service business. |
| 4 | who is the best Hermes AI SEO expert | The AI answer recommended me and cited my content from several platforms. | Being everywhere gets you recommended. |
These are my own results from my own screens, so treat them as proof of a method rather than a promise.
What is GEO, and how is it different from SEO?
Old SEO gave the searcher ten blue links.
If you ranked seventh, you still got some clicks.
AI answers usually give a short list of maybe one to three names, so there's no room for number seven.
The AI reads the pages that rank and sums up what they say.
I compare it to five friends recommending the same restaurant.
If five good pages in the top ten say the same name, the AI repeats that name.
So GEO is mostly about getting several good pages to agree that you're the answer.
GEO example 1: "best geo expert"
When I searched "best geo expert", Google's AI Overview named me first.
It said I'm known for documenting GEO experiments, public testing and running optimisation communities.
Several of my pages appeared in its sources.
This is move one of my system, which is to be the source.
The AI didn't make that description up, because it took it from pages that document my real tests.
GEO example 2: "best AI SEO community"
For "best AI SEO community", AI Profit Boardroom ranks first and my free community ranks second.
The AI Overview cites them more than once.
The article behind it was made three days before I checked it ranking.
It's a listicle that names my own offer as the best for the topic, and I always disclose that it's my own list.
I'm sharing the three days as my result, not as a timeline anyone can promise.
GEO example 3: "best HARO agency"
For "best HARO agency", the AI Overview lists five suppliers and links Goldie Agency first.
Goldie Agency also ranks first in the organic results for that search.
I like this example because it's a normal service business.
The same approach can work for a dentist, a plumber or an accountant.
GEO example 4: "who is the best Hermes AI SEO expert"
When I asked "who is the best Hermes AI SEO expert", the AI answer recommended me.
It cited my content across multiple platforms.
That's move two of my system, which is to be everywhere.
The traffic behind the GEO examples
One of my sites went from zero to about 1,300 Google clicks a day.
On one day, that site got over 9,600 impressions inside Google's AI features.
Both numbers come from my own screens in the video.
I'll also be honest that one of my sites flopped, so not every site works.

How the answer engine works: be the source, be everywhere, be first
I call my GEO system the answer engine.
It has three moves, and every example above uses at least one of them.
| Move | What it means | How to start |
|---|---|---|
| Be the source | Every page carries a real case study, test or result. | Write up one real test you ran, with the numbers, and publish it. |
| Be everywhere | Several sites and platforms point to the same answer from different angles. | Publish the same story on a second site, a video and a community post. |
| Be first | You publish within 24 hours of a new topic appearing. | Watch for new launches in your niche and ship a page the same day. |
Be the source
Every page I publish has a real case study on it.
The AI can't write about a test only you ran, so your page becomes the source it has to cite.
In my video I call this training the AI with your content, like my article on using a Hermes agent for SEO automation, which is built on my own case studies.
Be everywhere
I run multiple websites, each with a different angle, all pointing to the same answer.
That's how I can show up two to four times on page one for one search.
My subreddit, AI SEO Insider, also ranks on page one.
If one site drops, the others are still there.
Be first
I create content within 24 hours of a topic appearing.
When Jev AI dropped, I published on "Jev architecture" and "Jev waitlist" that same weekend.
How to copy these GEO examples
Here's the order I'd follow for your first example.
- Pick one buyer question where you want to be the name in the AI answer.
- Search it and note who the AI answer names today and which pages it cites.
- Write down one real case study you can share, with the real numbers.
- Publish an answer-first page that leads with that case study.
- Publish a second version with a different angle on another site or platform.
- If it's a "best of" search, add a listicle with your offer first and a clear disclosure that it's your own list.
- Fact-check every page by hand before it goes live, then re-check the search a couple of weeks later.
Google's 1 October 2026 guidance and GEO
Google updated its page on using generative AI content on 1 October 2026.
It says it's "critical to manually factcheck and review all AI-generated content" before publishing.
That review also covers title elements, meta descriptions, structured data and image alt text.
Google explains that generative models predict likely words rather than retrieving facts, so they can get things wrong.
Google's AI features page also says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode.
So none of these GEO examples relies on a trick, a special tag or a secret file.
What these GEO examples look like for other businesses
The examples above are from my own sites, but the pattern carries over to other kinds of business.
A local service business, such as a dentist or a plumber, can follow the HARO agency example with helpful service pages and the same facts listed consistently on other sites.
A consultant can follow the geo expert example by publishing one page per real project and describing their specialism in the same words every time.
A creator selling a course or community can follow the AI SEO community example with a disclosed listicle and fair alternatives.
A specialist in a narrow niche can follow the Hermes AI SEO expert example by publishing the same story on several platforms from different angles.
In every case, the job is the same, because you're giving the AI several good pages that agree on your name.
If you're not sure which pattern fits you, book a free AEO SEO strategy session and my team will help you pick.
What to track once your first page is live
I keep the tracking simple, because the point is to see whether the AI answer is changing.
I note which names the AI answer gives for each target search and which pages it cites.
I check whether my own pages are in those sources, and whether the description of me matches what I actually do.
I also watch clicks and impressions in Google Search Console for the pages I publish.
Then I decide which search gets the next case study.
Limits of these GEO examples
Nobody can guarantee what an AI answer will say, and that includes me.
AI answers change, so an example that looks good today can look different next month.
A listicle without a clear disclosure can damage trust with readers.
One of my sites flopped, which is why I spread the work across several sites.
Two ways to get help
The first is the free AEO SEO strategy session, which I call a free one-to-one GEO, AEO AI audit.
My team looks at your site, your competitors and the keywords you're closest to winning, then gives you a custom game plan.
It's a call, not a written report.
The second is the AI Profit Boardroom, where you get my Agent OS, a search OS that finds GEO keywords from your own Search Console data, and my SEO skill.
I'm adding a manual fact-checking list after Google's October update.
Members also get a zip, a video tutorial, a 30-day roadmap, four coaching calls a week and a member map, alongside 3,400+ members.

The models behind the AI answers, on GoldieBench
GEO itself doesn't ship its own model, and neither do any of the examples above.
The answers come from AI products built by model makers like Google, OpenAI and Anthropic.
Here's how some of those makers' models score on their live GoldieBench pages today.
| Model | Maker | The maker's assistant | GoldieBench average |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Opus 5 | Anthropic | Claude | 8.27 |
| GPT-5.6 Sol | OpenAI | ChatGPT | 8.16 |
| Claude Opus 5.5 | Anthropic | Claude | 7.57 |
| Grok 4.7 | xAI | Grok | 7.15 |
| Gemini 3.6 Flash | Gemini | 7.08 |
Claude Opus 5 is the highest of these at 8.27, with GPT-5.6 Sol close behind at 8.16.
Gemini 3.6 Flash scores 7.08, and it's the only Google model in this table.
The board can't tell you which exact model Google AI Overviews or ChatGPT runs at any moment, because the makers change that themselves.
Why model scores and GEO are different questions
GoldieBench scores one-shot builds, which is a very different job from choosing which business to name in an answer.
A stronger model doesn't automatically mention your business more, because the answer depends on the pages it can find and what those pages say.
That's why the five-friends idea matters more than the model, because the AI repeats what good pages agree on.
Where model quality does matter is your own GEO work, such as drafting pages from your case studies or comparing what AI answers say each week.
For that job I'd pick a model that follows detailed instructions closely, and I'd still fact-check every line it writes.
