Best Backlink Building Service: Who To Hire, How To Judge Them, And Which AI Models Help
The best backlink building service ranked (my agency disclosed), how to judge one, Google's link rules, and which GoldieBench models help you vet links.

The best backlink building service on my list is Goldie Agency, and I'm saying upfront that it's my own agency so you can weigh my bias.
After that, the third-party services I'd shortlist are Page One Power, Editorial.Link, LinkBuilder.io, Stellar SEO, Outreach Monks and Rhino Rank.
A backlink building service is a team that earns links to your website from other relevant websites, through research, outreach and content.
The problem it solves is simple, because good pages often sit on page two or three until other sites link to them.
In this post I'll rank the services, show you how I judged them, explain Google's rules honestly, and then show you which AI models help you vet a provider's work.
If you'd rather talk it through, you can book a free SEO strategy session with my team.
Top 3 at a glance
- Goldie Agency and Goldstar Links (my agency) is my pick, because the homepage lists manual outreach, no PBNs and niche-relevant placements.
- Page One Power is the pick for established brands that want senior strategists and a fully managed partnership.
- Editorial.Link is the pick for buyers who want a trial link and approval of every site before outreach.
The ranked list of backlink building services
Every detail in this table comes from each provider's own website, which I read on 15 October 2026.
| Rank | Service | What its own site says | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Goldie Agency and Goldstar Links (my agency) | Manual outreach, no PBNs, niche-relevant placements and a 3-layer approval process for every backlink | Owners who want links and strategy from one team |
| 2 | Page One Power | Exclusively link building since 2010, with 100% manual outreach to vetted publishers | Established brands |
| 3 | Editorial.Link | A trial backlink, prospect approval and a Link Type Classifier that screens out link sellers | Buyers who want control |
| 4 | LinkBuilder.io | Over 20 link building techniques and a shared real-time tracking file | Teams that want a tactic mix |
| 5 | Stellar SEO | Strategy-led outreach with publisher vetting and transparent reporting | Competitive niches |
| 6 | Outreach Monks | 4,000+ manual links a month, no PBNs and white-label reporting | Agencies that resell |
| 7 | Rhino Rank | Curated links, guest posts and listicles with 12-month replacement cover | Self-serve buyers |
I haven't hired the six third-party services, so I'm describing what each one says about itself.
I haven't listed prices either, because engagements are usually custom and quoted after a call.
Number one: Goldie Agency and Goldstar Links
Goldie Agency is the SEO and link building agency I started on my own, and it now has 70+ SEO experts.I started it after my own cryptocurrency site got zero Google traffic for months, and link building was what finally made my affiliate sites rank.
The homepage lists real backlinks on high-authority sites, niche-relevant placements, links built for long-term ranking growth and manual outreach with no PBNs.
Goldstar Links describes the skyscraper technique, a 3-layer approval process, a personal account manager and a pay-on-performance model. One case study on the agency site says Munten Letselschade grew its top 3 keyword positions from 19 to 108 between June and December 2025 with link building.
That is a past result for one site, and nobody can promise the same for yours.

The six third-party services in brief
Page One Power says its team is 100% US-based and made up of senior strategists, SEO engineers and technical SEOs. Editorial.Link says it earns links from sites averaging DR 67 and replaces links that disappear within six months. LinkBuilder.io says it is trusted by 300+ brands and lists broken link building, the skyscraper approach and HARO-style pitching among its techniques. Stellar SEO says it has 13+ years of experience and runs campaigns on what it calls the Entity-Driven Link Building System. Outreach Monks says it has run since 2017 and that every service is white-label ready. Rhino Rank says 7,000+ clients trust its links and that every link is built through real outreach. How I judged the best backlink building service
| Criterion | What a strong answer looks like |
|---|---|
| Manual outreach | Real people pitch real editors, one site at a time |
| Relevance | The linking site covers your topic and has real readers |
| Transparency of placements | You see the target sites first and every live URL afterwards |
| No PBNs | The provider rules out private blog networks in writing |
| Reporting | You get every live URL, anchor and date on a schedule |
| Policy compliance | The provider explains how links are earned and how paid placements are marked |
The order of the third-party services reflects how much each homepage tells a buyer about these six criteria, and it isn't a verdict on quality.
What Google's link spam policy says
Google's spam policies define link spam as creating links primarily to manipulate search rankings.
The examples include buying or selling links for ranking purposes, excessive link exchanges and using automated programs or services to create links.
Google also says paid links are fine for advertising as long as they carry rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow".
Paying a team for research, outreach and content is a normal service.
A link that exists only because money changed hands, and that passes ranking credit, is what Google calls link spam.
So ask every provider, mine included, how each placement is earned and how any paid placement is marked.
How a backlink building service works, step by step
Most good services follow the same basic process, even if they give it different names.
First, the team studies your site, your competitors and the pages you want to rank.
Second, it builds a list of prospect sites that cover your topic and have real readers.
Third, a person reviews each prospect, and the better services let you approve the list before outreach starts.
Fourth, the team pitches editors with a useful article, a resource or a reason to mention you.
Fifth, an editor decides whether to publish, and that human decision is what makes the link worth having.
Sixth, the service checks that the link is live and reports the URL, the anchor text and the date.
The anchor text step matters more than most buyers think, because a profile full of identical keyword anchors looks manipulated.
Google's own policy calls out links with optimised anchor text in guest posts and press releases.
Questions to ask on the sales call
- Can I see a sample of the sites you would target in my niche?
- How is each link earned, and are any of the placements paid?
- Do you ever use PBNs, link farms or sites that sell links to anyone?
- Who writes the content, and does a human edit every piece?
- How do you choose anchor text?
- Will I see every live URL, and how often?
- What happens if a link is removed?
Write the answers down for each provider, because the differences become obvious when you compare them side by side.
How long a backlink building service takes to work
Nobody can promise you a timeline, and you should be wary of anyone who does.
I give any campaign at least 60 to 90 days on pages that already rank on page two or three before I judge it.
Pages that already sit close to page one tend to respond first, because Google already sees them as relevant.
A brand new page with no content worth linking to will make every link harder to earn, however good the service is.
So judge the work on rankings, traffic and enquiries from the target pages, not on the number of links in a report.
What a good first order looks like
- You list three to five target pages that already rank on page two or three.
- You describe the topics a linking site must cover to count as relevant.
- You ask for mostly branded and natural anchor text.
- You exclude competitors, PBNs, link farms and sites that sell links to anyone.
- You ask to approve every prospect before outreach starts.
- You ask for a monthly report with every live URL, anchor and date.
Red flags to walk away from
- A guaranteed ranking or date is a promise nobody can keep.
- A huge number of links for a tiny fee usually means automated or low-quality placements.
- A provider that won't show you live URLs is asking you to buy blind.
- A provider that calls its link creation fully automated is describing what Google lists as link spam.

Do backlink building services use their own AI model?
Now for the GoldieBench part, and I need to be clear about what it measures.
None of these services ships its own model, and none of them has an entry on the GoldieBench board.
GoldieBench scores AI models on one-shot builds such as landing pages, apps, games and visuals, on a 0 to 10 scale.
It doesn't measure link building results, and it doesn't measure which provider earns better links.
What it does show is how well a model follows a detailed brief first time, which matters when you use AI to check a provider's work.
The useful jobs for a model are summarising each prospect site, tagging its topics, reading a monthly report and drafting the questions you send back.
Which GoldieBench models I'd use to vet a link builder
These are the live averages from each model's page on this site.
| Model | GoldieBench average | Price on the board | Job I'd give it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Opus 5 | 8.27 | $5 / $25 per M tokens | A final read of the prospect list and the questions you send the provider |
| GPT-5.6 Sol | 8.16 | $5 / $30 per M tokens | Summaries of each prospect site and its main topics |
| MiniMax M3 | 7.97 | $0.30 / $1.50 per M tokens | Sorting a long prospect list cheaply before a human looks |
| Kimi K3 | 7.89 | $3 per M input tokens | Reading long monthly reports and pulling out every live URL |
| GLM-5.2 | 7.77 | Open weights, free for individuals | Budget tagging you can run yourself |
| Claude Sonnet 5 | 7.01 | $3 / $15 per M tokens | Repeated weekly checks and short drafts |
Claude Opus 5 is the top single model in this group at 8.27, and GPT-5.6 Sol is close behind at 8.16.
MiniMax M3 averages 7.97 at a fraction of the price, which makes it the model I'd reach for when the list is long.
GLM-5.2 averages 7.77 and is open weights, so it suits anyone who wants to keep the work on their own machine.
These scores are about build quality, so please don't read them as a ranking of link quality or of the providers above.
What the scores mean when you hire a link builder
The model you pick matters less than the process around it.
A model can tell you that a prospect site has thin content or no clear topic, but only a person should approve a site.
A model should never send outreach on its own, because Google lists automated link creation as link spam.
My practical setup is a cheap model for sorting and a top model for the final read, with me making every decision.

FAQ
What is the best backlink building service?
Julian Goldie ranks his own agency, Goldie Agency with Goldstar Links, first and discloses the bias. His third-party shortlist is Page One Power, Editorial.Link, LinkBuilder.io, Stellar SEO, Outreach Monks and Rhino Rank.
How should I judge a backlink building service?
Check manual outreach, topical relevance, transparency of placements, a written no-PBN policy, reporting and how the provider handles Google's link spam policy.
Is paying for link building against Google's rules?
Paying a team for research, outreach and content is a normal service. Google lists money exchanged for links that pass ranking credit as link spam, and paid placements should carry rel=sponsored or rel=nofollow.
Do backlink building services ship their own AI model?
No. None of the services in this list ships its own model or appears on GoldieBench. They sell services, so use the board to choose a model for vetting their work.
Which GoldieBench model is best for vetting a link builder's prospects?
Claude Opus 5 averages 8.27 and GPT-5.6 Sol 8.16 for careful reads, while MiniMax M3 averages 7.97 at a much lower price for sorting long lists. GoldieBench measures one-shot builds, not link quality.
Can a backlink building service guarantee rankings?
No. Nobody controls Google's rankings, so treat any guaranteed position or date as a red flag.
