Grok Bot Templates And Which AI Models Matter: What Real GoldieBench Scores Mean When The Bot Picks The Model
A template copies the Bot but not a model, so here are the GoldieBench scores for the models around Grok Bot and how much they matter.

Grok bot templates don't carry a model choice, so the GoldieBench scores you care about are the ones for the models Grok Bot may route your copied Bot to.
The Grok Bot FAQ is clear: there is no model picker, and Grok Bot chooses the backend model it judges best for each task.
Below are the scores I read on goldiebench.com on 1 November 2026, and what they mean for a Bot you publish or import as a template.
If you want help deciding which jobs belong in a template and which belong on a model you control, book a free SEO strategy session.
What a template copies, and why the model isn't on the list
Per the Share a Bot docs, a public template exposes the Bot's identity, description, skills and routines.
Adding it creates a copy on the recipient's account, without your computer, logins or history.
No model setting appears in that list, which fits the FAQ: users can't route a task to or away from a particular model.
So two people running the same template can be served by different models from one request to the next.
The FAQ names one model directly
The FAQ says the routed model can be a first-party SpaceXSI model or a third-party one from a provider on the sub-processor list.
It gives one example by name: a task can be routed to Opus 5.5.
Usage views show this as Grok Bot usage, not by model name.
That's why the scores below are context, not a dial you can turn.
How GoldieBench scores models
The models page describes the method: the same fixed prompts, one shot each, scored 0 to 10.
The Grok page adds that each run produces a single HTML file.
That tests one-shot build quality.
It does not test how well a Bot follows a template's routines or approval rules.
The scores I read
| Model | Average | Tasks | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fusion | 8.59 | 47 | /models/ |
| Claude Opus 5 | 8.27 | 50 | /models/ |
| Hermes MoA | 8.17 | 47 | /models/moa |
| Grok | 8.09 | 47 | /models/grok |
| Claude Opus 5.5 | 7.57 | 50 | /models/opus55 |
| Grok 4.7 | 7.15 | 20 | /benchmarks/grok47 |
The models page lists 33 frontier models in total.
The Grok 4.7 deep dive shows a board rank of #18 of 26 ranked frontier models, with data refreshed on 27 October 2026.
What 7.57 for Opus 5.5 means for a template
Opus 5.5 is the one model the Grok Bot FAQ names as a possible route.
On its GoldieBench page it averages 7.57 across 50 tasks.
That sits below Grok's 8.09 and the 8.27 for Claude Opus 5 on the same bench.
For a template, the takeaway is practical: a strong brief matters more than the model behind any single reply.
Grok and Grok 4.7 on the bench
The Grok page shows an 8.09 average over 47 tasks, with 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
The Grok 4.7 benchmarks page shows 7.15 over 20 scored tasks, with 0 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze.
Neither page says Grok Bot uses these models, and the FAQ doesn't either.
Read them as the xAI side of the field, not as Grok Bot's engine.
Where a model you choose fits next to a template
If a job needs a specific model, run it on a model you control, then hand the result to the Bot.
Hermes MoA, a panel of frontier models merged by a chair, averages 8.17 over 47 tasks on its model page.
Fusion leads the models page at 8.59 over 47 tasks.
Those are options inside your own Agent OS, not inside a Grok Bot template.
The new subscription templates don't need a top scorer
The v0.78.1 changelog from 27 October 2026 added three subscription templates, among them Find unused subscriptions and Watch subscription prices, plus one called Try it, don't pay for it.
That last one begins a free trial, then either cancels it or reminds you ahead of the first bill.
Bots confirm with you before changing anything.
These are routine, approval-driven jobs, so the ranking gap between 7.57 and 8.59 barely matters for them.
Reading medal counts, not just averages
Averages hide how often a model wins outright.
Grok's page shows 5 gold medals across 47 tasks.
Claude Opus 5.5's page shows 0 gold, 0 silver and 1 bronze across 50 tasks.
Hermes MoA's page shows 3 gold, 10 silver and 2 bronze across 47 tasks.
A model that medals often tends to produce standout single builds, while a steady average says it rarely falls apart.
For a template that runs the same routine every week, steadiness is the trait you want, and that comes from the brief more than from the model.
What the scores don't tell you about a template
GoldieBench doesn't score memory, routines, approvals or app connections.
Those are exactly the parts a template copies.
So a copied Bot's quality comes down to how clearly its job, sources and approval boundary are written.

Publishing a template: what actually moves the result
- Give the Bot one job, named sources and an approval boundary.
- Strip API keys, internal URLs and customer data, because a new template link is public.
- Choose Share, Create a copy, Publish, then Copy link.
- Use Update template after every improvement, and Delete Template to turn a link off.
Other users author templates, and importing one means agreeing to the third-party bot terms.
A quick rule of thumb
If the job is routine and needs approvals, a template on Grok Bot's own routing is enough.
If the job is a one-shot build where the score gap matters, run it on a model you choose first.
Templates versus one shared Bot
A template gives each person their own copy.
A shared Bot gives a Cursor team one Bot to chat with, and it always runs in the cloud.
In both cases the model choice stays with Grok Bot.
For the shared-team route in Slack, see the Grok Bot Slack scores page.
Plan check before you share a link
Recipients need Premium, Super or Ultra, since the FAQ says Plus and Free leave Grok Bot out.
Recipients also need the Grok Bot app to choose Add to Grok Bot.

FAQ
Can a Grok Bot template lock in a model?
No. The FAQ says there is no model picker and Grok Bot chooses the backend model for each task, so a template carries no model choice.
Which model does the Grok Bot FAQ name?
It says a task can be routed to Opus 5.5. On GoldieBench, Claude Opus 5.5 averages 7.57 across 50 tasks.
How does Grok score on GoldieBench?
The /models/grok page shows an 8.09 average across 47 tasks. Grok 4.7 averages 7.15 over 20 tasks and ranks #18 of 26.
Do benchmark scores predict how well a template runs?
Not directly. GoldieBench scores one-shot single-file builds, while a template's results depend on its brief, routines and approval rules.
